The Giants' first loss could derail the entire season.

I don’t mean to sound like a panicking Jets fan.  I know us Giants fans are supposed to be cool and composed like our quarterback USUALLY is, but the team’s first loss of the season should be more concerning for fans than the typical loss.

First of all, the Giants showed the discipline of a peewee football team following the close of the first quarter.  From guys lunging at players 25 yards behind the play to Odell getting into a fight with the kicker’s net on the sidelines, the G-Men acted a lot like little boys on Sunday.  The most infuriating aspect of all of the tomfoolery is that it was centered on a player that they spent the week saying wasn’t even that good!  I mean, why in the world is a center getting ejected for attacking a cornerback!?  You have 100 lbs. on the guy Rich!  What are you proving!?

Ok, I think I got that out of my system.

Beyond the disappointing mental mistakes the team made, the upcoming schedule is what truly should worry Big Blue and its fans about this loss to the ‘Skins.

That’s right, next up on the schedule: the Vikings.   Not only will the Giants have to face the 3-0 Vikings and their league-best defense, but they will have to do so in Minnesota’s shiny new fortress; and if you don’t think it’s a fortress, ask Aaron Rodgers.

Speaking of Aaron Rodgers, he and the Packers will anxiously await the Giants’ arrival at Lambeau Field after the game in Minnesota.  The Pack will be especially anxious because they will be coming off of their bye week, an extra week to recuperate and focus on beating the Giants in their house.

And finally, after two LONG weeks with consecutive primetime games, the Giants will return to the friendly confides of MetLife stadium…to face the Ravens, who already have two road wins this season.

Then it’s off to London to face the Rams!

I won’t go on because by now I’m sure you can see how quickly this could get out of hand.  And it WILL get out of hand if the Giants don’t learn their lesson from this loss.

The coaches the Giants will face in the coming weeks – Zimmer in Minnesota and McCarthy in Green Bay – don’t tolerate the immaturity that the Giants displayed on Sunday, and I’m sure that Coach McAdoo won’t sit idly by either.

I’m not panicking yet – I’ll leave that to the Jets fans after Fitzpatrick’s six pick nightmare – but I’ll be on the edge of my seat on Monday night, anxious to see if this team will let this loss sink the season or serve as an example of a low that they refuse to return to.
